We are your hosts, Betsy Barrymore Stoll and Sterling Stoll. We have been Baja converts since the late-60’s. VILLA & CASA DEL MAR and EL NIDO are the culmination of our many years of visiting Baja, first by car camping and tenting, then by truck camper and small RV, camping by private aircraft and sleeping under the wing of the airplane, then to the old-style palapa beach “house” that used to be the way it was in Cabo Pulmo, and finally to a large fifth-wheel RV after our palapa house burned down in 1991. Building VILLA & CASA DEL MAR in 1994 and 1995 and EL NIDO in 2000 are the realization of our years-long dream of having real homes at the beach in Baja California Sur, Mexico.
To off-set the expense of building and outfitting our little piece of paradise, we decided to offer VILLA & CASA DEL MAR and EL NIDO for luxury guest vacation rentals. Betsy, who is a retired whitewater river outfitter, used her years of taking guests into the wilderness to equip our homes with all the best toys. We have tried to think of every amenity we and our guests might want and have provided them all. While the houses are built from local materials, most everything else has been purchased in the USA, imported to Mexico and shipped or carted down the Baja peninsula. In addition to the large items that were shipped by commercial truck, we have made dozens of 4,000 mile round-trip driving trips with a loaded trailer from Idaho and Southern California to outfit VILLA & CASA DEL MAR, and EL NIDO. VILLA & CASA DEL MAR and EL NIDO are wonderful homes. They are “not just a rental”, rather they are our personal vacation homes, and you will feel like you are staying in your own home.

Betsy Barrymore Stoll
Betsy Barrymore Stoll is one of Cabo Pulmo’s original American locals, discovering the area by airplane in 1970 with first husband, Dick Barrymore, developer of Cabo Pulmo Beach Resort. Betsy has put her years of experience as one of Idaho’s premier whitewater river outfitters to provide BAJA PARADISE guests with a turn-key vacation experience. Betsy runs BAJA PARADISE’s Reservations Office and oversees general day-to-day operations, working closely with Maria Elena, our on-site manager and housekeeper. Betsy is a certified ski instructor, USA 8th Interski Team member, formerly worked in the ski and outfitting industries, and has been an active Realtor in Sun Valley, Idaho since 1980. Betsy lives in Hailey, Idaho near the ski resort of Sun Valley, Idaho.
Sterling & Rusty Stoll
Sterling Stoll is BAJA PARADISE’s mechanical guru, solar genius, and designer of all our mechanical and electronic systems. Sterling intuitively knows how to make everything run and works in concert with our on-site mechanic, Polo, a mechanical guru in his own right. Sterling is an avid Cowboy Action Shooter and frequent national champion. 1980s hang gliding champion, Sterling is also a pilot, skier, horseman, and windsurfer. Sterling lives in Topeka, Kansas with his wife, Rusty.
