Beaches & Swimming

Enjoy the warm, gentle waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Cabo Pulmo’s 8 fingers of living coral reefs protect the gently-sloping beaches from the type of large waves associated with the active waters near Cabo San Lucas. Rip tides and undertows are uncommon, and even small children can play in the gently lapping waves. Here are the area’s best beaches for swimming:

Arbolitos

Arbolitos is a short drive South from Cabo Pulmo. Look for the gate to enter.  There is a small charge to park, $2.5 US per person.  Snorkeling and other gear can be rented for a small fee.   Water entry is gently sloped and shallow.  You will find abundant sea life and beautiful coral.  Trails to the right lead to Mermaid Beach and beyond.  Tacos, soda, and other items can be purchased.  The fee also includes showers and a bathroom.

Los Frailles

A 20 minute drive south of Cabo Pulmo, Bahia Los Frailes is a smaller yet equally stunning setting compared to Pulmo. Shielded by the impressive Friars rocks on the northwest side, this area is undeniably one of the most picturesque spots on the East Cape. With its calm and crystal-clear waters, it offers ideal conditions for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The bay is rich in marine life, which captivates children and provides a safe and tranquil environment for snorkeling and diving beginners to confidently discover the enchanting underwater realm.

Paradise awaits.
